During my time as Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, one of my most important activities has been visiting SUBPAC sailors on their deck plates. These opportunities to answer your questions and address your concerns are invaluable in helping to ensure that our headquarters are always working on the things that matter most to the warfighting effectiveness of our Force. One of my key takeaways is that we need better ways to facilitate this dialogue.
I'm writing now to introduce the SUBPAC Spotlight as another medium to carry on this conversation. Within the Spotlight you'll read about topics that should be of interest and relevance, such as CNO's guidance and how it affects our mission, updates to our Submarine Force Commander's Intent, programs and opportunities for our Sailors (such as those introduced under Sailor 2025), and developments in Undersea Warfare technologies and capabilities. Just as important, I ask that you use this as a means to continue to raise issues and ask questions. I welcome your open and honest communication, and I commit to two-way communication with the COMSUBPAC leadership team.
I encourage you to use this Blog, not only to put the spotlight on problems, but also to highlight the many great things you're doing every day. Use the comment boxes or email address below to let us know. If you have topics you'd like to see your leadership team address, this is a great place to request their feedback.
This is an incredibly exciting time to be part of the submarine force, whether officer of enlisted, active or reserve, government civilian, contractor, or an industry partner. It's also an incredibly important time, as our operational commanders have never had a greater appreciation nor a greater need for what the submarine force provides. I plan to use this Blog to talk to you about this more efficiently and effectively, and I look forward to hearing from you as part of this two-way conversation.
