POLARIS POINT, Guam (December 5, 2015) Sailors and families from Submarine Squadron 15 (CSS 15), USS Topeka (SSN 754), USS Key West (SSN 722), USS Oklahoma City (SSN 723) and USS Chicago (SSN 721) gathered together on Polaris Point, Guam for the first-ever Team 15 Day event Dec. 19.
Team 15 Day is an event that brings together Sailors and families from the submarine community on Guam to educate them on Navy support services and acclimate new arrivals to life on Guam.
The event had representatives from organizations such as Go Guam, the Guam Police Department, MWR, Naval Base Guam Fire Department, and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
“Team 15 Day is to show the families what really is available here on Guam,” said Command Master Chief Petty Officer Steve Bosco, CSS-15 command master chief. “It’s about building camaraderie and building relationships. It’s about reaching out. That’s what Team 15 is all about.”
In addition to all the information, those in attendance were treated to food, music and games.
“It’s nice to have all the commands out here supporting you and being able to bring your family and have fun,” said Culinary Specialist 3rd Class Zachery Morris. “It’s great to come out here and get support from your chain of command and see the local community supports you as well. It’s a good feeling.”
The plan is for Team 15 Day to be an event CSS-15 Sailors have to look forward to every year.
“This is the starting point,” said Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman Christopher Brey, event coordinator for Team 15 Day. “It will get bigger and better every year. We want to let everyone in the submarine force know that Guam is where you want to be.
Frank Cable, forward deployed to the island of Guam, conducts maintenance and support of submarines and surface vessels deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
