NAVAL BASE GUAM (Jan. 5, 2023) – U.S. Naval Base Guam’s Dog Park offers a place for pet owners to allow their dogs off-leash in a bigger area outside of their current yard. The dog park is a fenced-in area with two separate sections and is located on Haputo Road behind Harbor View Housing. A set of rules for dog owners and their four-legged friends is posted on the outside of the park’s main entrance.
The park provides various canine-friendly agility equipment, including a hoop jump, a King of the Hill dog ramp, jump hurdles, faux fire hydrant, and water faucet and hose. Two covered cabanas are available for dog owners to sit and watch their dogs from.
John Eschmann brings his Yellow Labrador Summer to the NBG Dog Park at least four times a week.
“She’s social and will play a little, but after running around for a while she’ll just want to relax and hang out in the grass,” Eschmann said. “Sometimes it’s nice to get her out in another space, outside of our yard.”
The park is maintained through a contract under the NBG Housing Office.
“The rules are fairly simple, we just ask that dog owners be respectful of all others using the dog park and pick up after your pets,” said NBG Housing Director Berni Aquiningoc.
