OS1 Alicia Griffin, from Missouri City, TX, is a master of her craft, and a leader on the Zulu watch floor.  She is the most junior Sailor on the DESRON 21 staff to qualify as Surface Warfare Commander, a tactical watch usually stood by Chiefs and officers.  In completing this qualification, she earned the complete trust of the Commodore to employ surface forces and air resources in defense of ABE LINCOLN Strike Group.

Additionally, she is a member of the CRT, the lead SAPR VA, and the Suicide Prevention Coordinator.  Not only does she ensure these critical programs are properly executed for the staff, but she also provides ISIC oversight to ensure effective implementation of these programs across 5 ships within the squadron.

OS1’s dedication and professionalism are unwavering, and therefore most deserving as our “Sailor of the Day.”
