The first MyNavy Career Development Symposium (CDS) and Trade Show since the COVID-19 pandemic began kicks off Nov. 3 at Naval Base San Diego.
The two-day event, hosted by Navy Personnel Command, gives Sailors in the San Diego area an opportunity to engage with various MyNavy HR representatives with a goal of providing Sailors with important career information that helps them take charge of their futures in the Navy.
The first day of CDS takes place at Naval Base San Diego at Pier 2, NBSD Theater, Nimitz Conference Room, Anchors, Gold Room, and Mercer Galley on Nov. 3.
On the second day CDS opens at Naval Air Station North Island at the VADM Martin Gym, Lowry Theater, NASNI Galley, CNAP Auditorium, and I Bar Building on Nov. 4.
Throughout the entire event, on Naval Base San Diego’s Pier 2 and the VADM Martin Gym, Sailors can meet with detailers, see new product demos and find additional resources for their career management.
A live, hour-long Facebook Live broadcast featuring MyNavy HR leadership is slated for Nov. 3 beginning at 10 a.m. (Pacific Time).
“I am excited to speak to and meet with our Southwest region Sailors. Whether we speak virtually or in person I am glad that we’re bringing the best of MyNavy HR directly to these Sailors,” said NPC Force Master Chief Chris Detje. “This CDS is very important to us because we haven’t been able to hold one since 2019. Getting feedback directly from Sailors on the deckplates about the current MyNavy HR initiatives is pivotal to our continued success at improving Sailor’s lives.”
CDS brings senior Navy leadership, enlisted community managers and detailers together with fleet Sailors to discuss what is happening in today’s Navy, as well as listening to their concerns regarding current and future Navy policy or procedures. Topics being discussed are MyNavy Career Center, the detailing process, enlisted advancement, and changes to performance evaluations.
