Singapore (NNS) – The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) arrived in Singapore for a scheduled port visit, Jan. 26.
The port visit offers a chance for Sailors and Marines to enjoy the culture, visit iconic sites and attractions, and the opportunity to rest and relax.
“Singapore is a city I’ve always wanted to visit,” Lt. j.g. Sharon Ferracci. “I’m glad we’re here and fortunate enough to make it one of our liberty port calls.”
Anchorage’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Committee scheduled events such as a tour to Universal Studios, a Singapore night safari tour, a food experience excursion, and an adventure to Cove Water Park as well as a cultural tour of the city.
“We have a variety of tours available thanks to MWR,” said Capt. Dennis Jacko commanding officer of the Anchorage. “I believe everyone will thoroughly enjoy the activities offered in Singapore. It is a historic city with deep maritime ties to both the British and American Navies, and it’ll be an experience that will last a lifetime.”

The Essex ARG/ 13th MEU is a capable and lethal Navy-Marine Corps team deployed to the 7th fleet area of operations to support regional stability, reassure partners and allies and maintain a presence postured to respond to any crisis ranging from humanitarian assistance to contingency operations.
