From SWRMC Public Affairs

Lt. Cmdr. Luke Bogan of the Royal Australian Navy was recently recognized by Capt. David Hart, Southwest Regional Maintenance Center commanding officer, for his hard work during the execution and delivery of USS Spruance (DDG 111).

Lt. Cmdr. Luke Bogan of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) was recently recognized by Capt. David Hart, Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) commanding officer, for his hard work during the execution and delivery of USS Spruance (DDG 111).

Bogan has been serving as SWRMC’s Waterfront Operations Execution Branch Head for the last two months as part of the rotation program supporting the command’s project teams conducting repair availabilities at the local BAE Systems Ship Repair. The project team is a cross section of SWRMC that provides contract management and oversight on large scale maintenance and modernization projects. Using his experience in the RAN, Bogan united this cross functional team across SWRMC and Spruance to support critical mission requirements.

“SWRMC has supported various rotations of RAN officers through the years and we were pleased to welcome Lt. Cmdr. Bogan to our Team,” said Hart. “His expertise was instrumental in ensuring SWRMC met its on-time delivery goal with USS Spruance.”

In lieu of hosting a traditional awards ceremony during the current environment, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal was presented to Bogan during SWRMC’s recent Executive Staff leadership meeting.

“He oversaw the completion of Spruance’s fiscal year 2020 Docking Selected Restricted Availability with a budget of 43 million dollars,” the citation said. “His efforts were crucial in ensuring all critical work was complete to safely support Light Off Assessment and Sea Trials. By his determination, superb guidance, and unswerving dedication to duty, Lieutenant Commander Bogan reflected credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.”

SWRMC is meeting its mission to provide superior ship maintenance, modernization, technical support, and training for the Pacific Fleet.
