Retirement Ceremony Held for CTMC Robin Jarratt

Cryptologic Technician Maintenance Chief Robin R. Jarratt retired from the Navy after a 21-year career, April 21.

Chief Jarratt, a native of Emporia, Virginia, retired Friday during a heartfelt ceremony presided over by Ensign Romano Rumbawa. Ensign Rumbawa and Chief Jarratt went through Chief Petty Officer Phase II together in 2014 at Navy Information Operations Command Norfolk and the comradery that developed was clearly evident.

Chief Jarratt’s wife Michelle, and his three sons, Jeremy, Jacob, and Jordan, as well as his parents and siblings were all in attendance. Chief Jarratt individually recognized them all during his uncharacteristically emotional speech stating, “I could not have done this without every one of you. You set the example for what a family is.” He also stated, “Once I joined the Navy, I knew I was in the right place.”

During the ceremony Ensign Rumbawa recounted about ‘long nights during the season spent at Robin’s house with Michelle, and how close they all became during those six weeks.

The guest speaker, Information Systems Technician (Ret.) Brian Campbell, who met Chief Jarratt while stationed together at Diego Garcia, remembers bonding quickly with him. After becoming best friends and meeting Michelle, he stated, “Robin, you made me part of your family. Michelle and you were my support system when I needed them and have always been there for me.”

He dedicated the Navy Wife poem to Michelle and she was presented with his retirement flag. His sons all received flags flown over their favorite football team’s stadiums.
