USS Gonzalez Arrives in Durres, Albania

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gonzalez (DDG 66) arrived in Durres, Albania March 28, 2019, for a scheduled port visit, to enhance U.S.-Albania relations as the two nations work together to strengthen regional security and stability.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gonzalez (DDG 66) arrived in Durres, Albania March 28, 2019, for a scheduled port visit, to enhance U.S.-Albania relations as the two nations work together to strengthen regional security and stability.

The ship’s port visit coincides with the 10th anniversary of Albania’s accession into NATO, which is a significant milestone for the country of Albania and the NATO alliance. These types of visits demonstrate our commitment to regional stability and maritime security in this vital region of the world.
