Chief of Navy Reserve Vice Adm. Nancy S. Lacore and Reserve Force Master Chief Tracy L. Hunt visited Navy Reserve Region Readiness and Mobilization Command (REDCOM) Jacksonville and Navy Reserve Center Jacksonville onboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville, November 6.
Lacore and Hunt recognized Sailors from each command on their contributions in mobilization and warfighting readiness for the Navy Reserve.
“I really enjoyed spending quality time with our Navy Reserve Center, Region Readiness and Mobilization Command and squadron based here in Jacksonville. They are a very real example of what it means to be Warfighting Ready,” said Lacore. “These amazing Sailors support our full spectrum of Navy Reserve aviation platforms, from C-130 Hercules, MH-60R anti-submarine helicopters, P-8 Orion Maritime Patrol, C-40s and MQ-4C Triton UAVs — operating every day, around the world. I couldn’t be more proud of the work they do.”
Yeoman 2nd Class Samantha Matos, from Reno, Nev., was recognized for her remarkable dedication and skill in her role as the Navy Mobilization Processing Support (NMPS) Site Manager, providing direct support to the 8,211 Selected Reserve Sailors in the Southeast.
“I’m extremely honored,” said Matos. “It came as a complete surprise; having my chain of command recognize me is wonderful. Hearing Vice Admiral Lacore’s goals for the Navy Reserve makes me feel more confident in my work and the direction we’re headed.”
During the visit, Lacore spoke about her plans for the Navy Reserve, building up the total fighting force to align with the Chief of Naval Operations’ Navigation Plan. She responded to Sailors’ questions and offered insight, responding to their thoughts and addressing their concerns.
"It was an honor to host CNR on her visit to Jacksonville," said Capt. Todd Bruemer, "Sharing her strategic guidance was so important for our Sailors on the deck-plate level as it reinforced our Navy Reserve mission. Personally recognizing six Sailors from REDCOM and NRC Jacksonville energized the Sailors and solidified our Reserve team mentality.”
REDCOM Jacksonville and NRC Jacksonville play a crucial role in the warfighting readiness in the Navy Reserve by providing administrative services, training support, and world class customer service to Reserve personnel in support of surge and operational requirements for the Navy and Marine Corps team and the Joint Force
