COMMANDER PAUL GILLETT

CDR Paul Gillett is a native of Orono, Maine.  He received his commission from Norwich University NROTC in May 2006, and reported to USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60) in Apr 2007 as the COMMO. During his time onboard, he made 2 deployments, with the first in 7th fleet and the second in 5th fleet.
His second DIVO assignment was onboard USS VELLA GULF (CG 72) as the Fire Control Officer. He completed a deployment to 6th Fleet in support of Ballistic Missile Defense operations. He subsequently transferred to shore duty at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University NROTC as an assistant Professor of Naval Science. At ERAU, he received a Master’s of Science in Human Factors and Systems.
He transferred to USS STOUT (DDG 55) in Aug 2014, where he completed 2 Department head tours, first as the Weapons Officer, and subsequently as the Combat Systems Officer. He deployed to 5th fleet in support of normal Carrier Strike Group and Ballistic Missile Defense operations.
Following his CSO tour, he completed a PCS to Naples, Italy, where he worked as part of CTF64, which is responsible for Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) in the European AOR. He then transferred to USS TRIPOLI (LHA 7) as the C5I Officer, and helped drive a rigorous construction, training, and certification cycle to support TRIPOLI’s maiden deployment.
After his tour on TRIPOLI, he assumed the role of Executive Officer at College of the Holy Cross NROTC in Worcester, MA, helping to train future Navy and Marine Corps Officers from the 4 collegiate institutions that comprise the Crusader Battalion. He subsequently reported to CFAC in September 2025 as the Executive Officer.
He is married to the former Mary Falls of Old Town, Maine, and has 5 children: Jack, Helen, Todd, Colin, and Kurt. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Rifle Marksman Ribbon, and Pistol Marksman Ribbons.
