Commander William Delao is a native of Brooklyn, New York. He graduated State University of New York Maritime College, Bronx, New York, in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Facilities Engineering. He earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Monmouth University in Long Branch, New Jersey (2014) and a Master’s in Systems Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey (2022). On mobilization, he has serves as Defense Logistics Agency Expeditionary Disposal Remediation Team Officer in Charge, Afghanistan and Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services Det Officer in Charge Bagram, Afghanistan (2011). He also served as Navy Customs Battalion SIERRA, BRAVO Company Assistant Company Commander Ali Al Salem, Kuwait (2007). CDR Delao’s reserve tours include, Executive Officer/Acting Commanding Officer Naval Cooperation and Guidance of Shipping Commander Sixth Fleet, Long Island NY; Operation Officer for Strategic Sealift Unit 102 in Fort Dix, NJ; Executive Officer and Administrative Officer for Military Sealift Command Expeditionary Port Unit 102 in Bronx, New York; Training Officer/Operations Officer for Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Philadelphia, PA, while being cross-assigned to Naval Coordination and Guidance of Shipping Det ALPHA Bronx, New York and Military Sealift Command, Expeditionary Port Unit 108 Atlanta, Georgia; Assistant Information Technology Department Head for Naval Coordination and Protection of Shipping Det CHARLIE. As a civilian, CDR Delao is an Operations Research Analyst with Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Lakehurst NJ. He provides support to the Aircraft Launch and Recovery (ALRE) program. Prior to joining NAVAIR in 2015, he was employed as a Merchant Marine Engineering Officer and holds a Merchant Marine license as a First Assistance Engineer for both Steam and Motor ships, unlimited horsepower. Personal decorations include Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (two awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal and various other service awards. In December 2011, he was awarded Defense Logistics Agency Junior Officer of the Year for his tour in Afghanistan.
